The selection condition that was derived from archiving Customizing to
select the documents to be archived is too extensive.
The archiving session has to be terminated.
Inform your system administrator.
Check the <DS:SIMG.SIMG_LEARCHLIKP>archiving Customizing</>.
When using '*' as a wildcard character for the sales organization or
for the delivery type, the system replaces this character with all
sales organizations or delivery types that correspond to the selection
conditions on the initial screen when generating the selection
condition.
Therefore, you can remove the error by either simplifying the archiving
Customizing or by specifying selection criteria for the sales
organization and delivery type.

VB722
- The selection condition for data archiving is too extensive ?The SAP error message VB722 indicates that the selection condition for data archiving is too extensive. This typically occurs when the criteria set for archiving data in the system are too broad or complex, leading to performance issues or exceeding system limits.
Cause:
- Extensive Selection Criteria: The selection criteria defined for archiving may include too many fields or conditions, which can lead to a large volume of data being selected for archiving.
- Data Volume: The amount of data that meets the selection criteria may exceed the limits set by the system, causing the archiving process to fail.
- Performance Issues: The complexity of the selection conditions can lead to performance degradation, making it difficult for the system to process the archiving request efficiently.
Solution:
Refine Selection Criteria: Review and refine the selection criteria used for archiving. Try to narrow down the conditions to target a smaller subset of data. This can involve:
- Reducing the number of fields used in the selection.
- Adding more specific conditions to limit the data volume.
- Using date ranges or status filters to focus on a specific timeframe or data state.
Batch Processing: If the data volume is inherently large, consider breaking the archiving process into smaller batches. This can help manage the load on the system and avoid exceeding limits.
Check System Settings: Review the system settings related to archiving. There may be configuration parameters that can be adjusted to allow for larger selection criteria or to optimize performance.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to archiving processes for specific guidelines and best practices.
Testing: Before executing the archiving process in a production environment, test the refined selection criteria in a development or quality assurance environment to ensure that it works as expected.
