What causes this issue?

Disruptive errors can arise during the approval process (for example,
when Customizing settings are changed). As the initiator of the status
change, you were notified; then you resumed the approval process.

System Response

The status of the tasks will be set back to the status that existed
prior to the error. The approval agents will be notified about the
workflow (again).

How to fix this error?

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
