  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

Some printer drivers allow you to set the attribute for proportional
font of a printer font with a different value that the corresponding
attribute for the font family. This can be required, for example, for
double-byte fonts of PCL-5 printers since these fonts (for example,
JPMINCHO) are handled as non-proportional in R/3, but as proportional
fonts in the printer language PCL-5.
In this case, either the font family (for example, HELVE) is flagged as
proportional and the printer font as non-proportional, or vice versa.

    System Response

    The system issues a warning.

    How to fix this error?

If you are sure that the printer font must be set to the attribute for
proportional font you selected, keep the setting. If you are not sure,
set the PROP flag of the printer font to the same value as the prop
flag of the font family, for example PROP=YES for font family HELVE,
    PROP=NO for font family COURIER.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message TD380 - Font family and printer font have different PROPORTIONAL flags ?

The SAP error message TD380 indicates a mismatch between the font family and the printer font regarding their PROPORTIONAL flags. This typically occurs when the system is trying to use a proportional font in a context where a non-proportional font is expected, or vice versa. Here’s a breakdown of the cause, potential solutions, and related information:

    Cause:

    1. Font Configuration Mismatch: The error arises when the font family defined in the SAPscript or Smart Forms does not match the properties of the printer font. Specifically, one is set as proportional (variable width) while the other is set as non-proportional (fixed width).
    2. Incorrect Printer Settings: The printer settings in SAP may not be correctly configured to use the appropriate fonts.
    3. Custom Fonts: If custom fonts are being used, they may not be properly defined or may not match the expected properties.

    Solution:

    1. Check Font Settings:

      • Go to the SAP transaction SPAD (Spool Administration).
      • Check the configuration of the printer and the fonts assigned to it.
      • Ensure that the font family and the printer font are both set to either proportional or non-proportional.
    2. Adjust SAPscript or Smart Forms:

      • If you are using SAPscript or Smart Forms, check the font settings in the form.
      • Ensure that the font family used in the form matches the properties of the printer font.
    3. Use Standard Fonts:

      • If you are using custom fonts, consider switching to standard SAP fonts that are known to work correctly with the printer.
    4. Test with Different Printers:

      • If possible, test the output on a different printer to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to a particular printer configuration.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • Review SAP documentation or notes related to font configuration and printer settings for any additional guidance or updates.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address this specific error or provide updates on font handling.
    • Font Types: Understand the difference between proportional and non-proportional fonts. Proportional fonts have varying widths for different characters, while non-proportional fonts have a fixed width for all characters.
    • SAP Community: Engage with the SAP Community forums for insights from other users who may have encountered and resolved similar issues.
