    System Response

This MTE shows the combined performance of a NetWeaver system with
regard to the dialog performance (dynpro applications) and the RFC
performance (Remote Function Calls). This MTE collects the response time
of dynpro applications in the same way as the MTE ResponseTimeDialog.
Additionally it includes the response time of RFC calls, which are
received and executed in a dialog work process.
The MTE Dialog/ResponseTimeDialogRFC counts dialog steps which are
    conformant to the following conditions:
The dialog step was performed to serve a dynpro application (dialog
activity). If the transaction served is 'CIC0' than the rollout time is
not included in the total response time<(>,<)>
OR the dialog step was performed in a dialog work process to serve an
    incoming Remote Function Call.

    How to fix this error?

This MTE is a replacement of the MTE ResponseTime to use in the load
balancing mechanism of logon groups (transaction SMLG) to calculate the
    quality of the instance.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RT766 - Performance attribute: DIALOG and RFC response time ?

The SAP error message RT766 indicates that there is a performance issue related to the response times of dialog and Remote Function Call (RFC) processes. This message typically arises when the response times for these processes exceed acceptable thresholds, which can lead to performance degradation in the SAP system.

    Causes:

    1. Network Latency: High network latency between the SAP application server and the database or between different application servers can lead to increased response times.
    2. System Load: High load on the SAP application server or database server can cause delays in processing requests.
    3. Inefficient Code: Poorly optimized ABAP code or inefficient queries can lead to longer processing times.
    4. Database Performance: Slow database performance due to locking, lack of indexes, or resource contention can impact response times.
    5. Configuration Issues: Incorrect configuration settings in the SAP system or network can lead to performance bottlenecks.
    6. Hardware Limitations: Insufficient hardware resources (CPU, memory, disk I/O) can lead to performance issues.

    Solutions:

    1. Monitor Performance: Use transaction codes like ST03N (Workload Analysis), ST06 (Operating System Monitor), and SM50 (Process Overview) to monitor system performance and identify bottlenecks.
    2. Optimize Code: Review and optimize ABAP code and SQL queries to ensure they are efficient. Use tools like the ABAP Runtime Analysis (transaction SE30) to identify performance issues in code.
    3. Database Tuning: Analyze and optimize database performance. This may include creating indexes, analyzing query execution plans, and ensuring that the database is properly configured.
    4. Network Optimization: Check network performance and latency. Ensure that network connections are stable and that there are no issues with bandwidth.
    5. Increase Resources: If hardware limitations are identified, consider upgrading the server resources (CPU, memory, etc.) or optimizing the existing resources.
    6. Configuration Review: Review SAP and network configurations to ensure they are set up correctly for optimal performance.
    7. Load Balancing: If applicable, implement load balancing to distribute the workload evenly across multiple servers.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check for relevant SAP Notes that may address specific performance issues or provide guidance on tuning.
    • SAP Performance Optimization Guides: SAP provides various guides and best practices for optimizing performance in SAP systems.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with transaction codes that can help in monitoring and diagnosing performance issues, such as ST22 (Dump Analysis), SM21 (System Log), and SMLG (Logon Groups).

By systematically addressing the potential causes and implementing the suggested solutions, you can improve the performance of your SAP system and resolve the RT766 error message.
