    System Response

This MTE provides a performance indicator for the of Web Dynpro
    applications.
MTE Dialog/ResponseTimeHTTP counts only dialog steps which conform to
    the following conditions:
The dialog step was processed on behalf of Internet Communication
    Technology module (ICT).
The processing protocol of the dialog step is HTTP or HTTPS.
Response time is calculated as the sum of pure processing time and the
roll out time. The definition of this MTE matches the definition of the
task type HTTP in the transaction ST03N/STAD. A slight (up to one
millisecond) difference in measured response time is possible because of
rounding issues, although special measures are taken to minimize it. The
reason is that ST03N/STAD uses exact float arithmetic, while RZ20 uses
    integer arithmetic.

    How to fix this error?

This MTE is a good indicator of the average responsiveness of Web Dynpro
applications and can be used as such in the Service Level Agreement
    measurements.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RT764 - Performance attribute: HTTP response time ?

The SAP error message RT764, which pertains to "Performance attribute: HTTP response time," typically indicates that there is a performance issue related to the HTTP response time of an SAP system. This can affect the overall user experience and system performance. Here’s a breakdown of the potential causes, solutions, and related information:

    Causes:

    1. Network Latency: High latency in the network can lead to slow HTTP response times.
    2. Server Load: If the SAP server is under heavy load, it may not be able to respond to requests in a timely manner.
    3. Inefficient Code: Poorly optimized ABAP code or inefficient queries can lead to longer processing times.
    4. Database Performance: Slow database queries or locks can delay the response time.
    5. Configuration Issues: Incorrect configuration settings in the SAP system or web server can lead to performance bottlenecks.
    6. External Services: If the SAP system relies on external services or APIs, delays in those services can impact response times.

    Solutions:

    1. Network Optimization:

      • Check network performance and latency.
      • Use tools to monitor network traffic and identify bottlenecks.
    2. Server Performance:

      • Monitor server performance metrics (CPU, memory, disk I/O).
      • Scale up resources if the server is consistently under heavy load.
    3. Code Optimization:

      • Review and optimize ABAP code and SQL queries.
      • Use transaction ST05 (SQL Trace) to identify slow queries.
    4. Database Tuning:

      • Analyze database performance and optimize indexes.
      • Check for locks and long-running transactions.
    5. Configuration Review:

      • Review and adjust configuration settings in the SAP system and web server.
      • Ensure that the HTTP server (e.g., SAP Web Dispatcher, ICM) is properly configured.
    6. Monitoring and Alerts:

      • Implement monitoring tools to track performance metrics and set up alerts for high response times.
      • Use SAP Solution Manager for performance monitoring and analysis.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check for relevant SAP Notes that may address specific performance issues or provide patches.
    • Transaction Codes: Use transaction codes like ST03N (Workload Analysis), ST04 (Database Performance), and ST06 (Operating System Monitor) for performance analysis.
    • Performance Tuning Guides: Refer to SAP’s performance tuning guides for best practices and recommendations.
    • SAP Community: Engage with the SAP Community for insights and shared experiences from other users facing similar issues.

By systematically addressing these areas, you can identify the root cause of the RT764 error and implement appropriate solutions to improve HTTP response times in your SAP environment.
