The SAP error message HRPAYDESVD3020, which states "Data was changed by default values," typically occurs in the context of payroll processing or personnel administration within the SAP HR module. This error indicates that the system has automatically adjusted certain data fields to their default values, which may not align with the user's expectations or the intended data entry.

    Cause:

    1. Default Value Settings: The system may have predefined default values for certain fields in the payroll or personnel administration processes. If the user enters data that conflicts with these defaults, the system may override the user input.

    4. User Authorizations: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to change certain fields, leading the system to revert to defaults.

    Solution:

    1. Review Default Settings: Check the configuration settings in the SAP system to understand what default values are being applied. This can often be done in the customizing settings (transaction SPRO).
    2. Data Entry Validation: Ensure that the data being entered complies with the expected formats and values. Validate that all required fields are filled out correctly.
    3. User Authorizations: Verify that the user has the appropriate authorizations to make changes to the data in question. If not, consult with your SAP security team to adjust the user's permissions.
    4. Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help files related to the specific transaction or process you are working with to understand the expected behavior and any constraints.
