  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The plan/campaign object &V1& with GUID &V2& exists more than once in
    the returned hierarchy.
The external system has transferred a hierarchy to the returned table
where this object (element of a marketing plan or a marketing campaign)
appears more than once. The object is identified by its GUID.
In the returned hierarchy, the system checked whether such an object
existed more than once, which was the case with object &V1&.
This is not permitted; an object may only appear once in a hierarchy
table and may have only one superordinate node (<LS>parent node</>).

    How to fix this error?

In the external system, change the hierarchy such that an object
(identified by its GUID) appears only once.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CRM_MKT_EXTERNAL043 - Plan object &1 (with parent object &3) exists more than once in hierarchy ?

The SAP error message CRM_MKT_EXTERNAL043 indicates that there is a duplicate plan object in the hierarchy. This typically occurs in the context of marketing planning within SAP CRM, where each plan object should be unique within its hierarchy.

    Cause:

    The error arises when:

    • A plan object (e.g., a marketing campaign, project, or activity) is defined more than once in the same hierarchy.
    • There may be inconsistencies in the data, such as incorrect entries or duplicate records created during data migration or manual entry.
    • The parent-child relationship in the hierarchy is not maintained correctly, leading to multiple entries of the same object.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can follow these steps:

    1. Identify Duplicates:

      • Use transaction codes like CRMD_ORDER or relevant reports to check for duplicate entries of the plan object in the hierarchy.
      • You can also use SQL queries or SAP standard reports to find duplicates based on the object ID and parent object ID.
    2. Correct the Data:

      • Once duplicates are identified, you need to decide which entry to keep and which to delete or merge.
      • If the duplicates are not needed, delete the unnecessary entries.
      • If they need to be merged, ensure that all relevant data is consolidated into a single entry.
    3. Check Hierarchy Structure:

      • Ensure that the hierarchy structure is correctly defined. Each plan object should have a unique identifier and should be linked correctly to its parent object.
      • Review the hierarchy settings in the marketing planning area to ensure compliance with the expected structure.
    4. Data Consistency Check:

      • After making changes, run a consistency check to ensure that the hierarchy is now valid and that there are no remaining duplicates.
    5. Testing:

      • Test the changes in a development or quality assurance environment before applying them to the production system to ensure that the error is resolved.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as CRMD_ORDER, CRMD_ORDERADM_H, and others that pertain to marketing and CRM activities.
