WL862
- Work item &: Dependent work item & cannot be deleted ?The SAP error message WL862 indicates that a work item cannot be deleted because it has dependent work items. This typically occurs in the context of workflow management within SAP, where work items are part of a larger workflow process.
Cause:
The error arises when you attempt to delete a work item that is linked to other work items. In SAP workflows, work items can have dependencies, meaning that one work item may rely on the completion or status of another. If you try to delete a work item that has dependent work items, the system prevents this action to maintain the integrity of the workflow.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can follow these steps:
Identify Dependent Work Items:
- Use transaction code SWI1 (Work Item Selection) or SWI2_FREQ (Work Item Overview) to find the dependent work items associated with the work item you are trying to delete.
- Check the workflow log to see the hierarchy and dependencies of the work items.
Process or Delete Dependent Work Items:
- If the dependent work items are no longer needed, you may need to process or delete them first. Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to do so.
- If the dependent work items are still required, you may need to complete or resolve them before you can delete the original work item.
Check Workflow Configuration:
- Review the workflow configuration to understand the relationships between work items. This may involve checking the workflow definition in transaction SWDD (Workflow Builder).
Consult Documentation or Support:
- If you are unsure about the dependencies or how to proceed, consult SAP documentation or reach out to your SAP support team for assistance.
