QIE_INSP_DOCUMENT021
- Lot size cannot be changed; external inspection has started ?The SAP error message QIE_INSP_DOCUMENT021 indicates that a lot size cannot be changed because an external inspection has already started. This typically occurs in the context of quality management (QM) processes within SAP, particularly when dealing with inspection lots that are linked to external vendors or suppliers.
Cause:
The error arises when you attempt to change the lot size of an inspection lot that is already in progress or has been released for inspection. The system prevents changes to the lot size to maintain data integrity and ensure that the inspection process is consistent and traceable.
Solution:
To resolve this error, consider the following steps:
Check Inspection Lot Status: Verify the status of the inspection lot. If the inspection has already started, you will not be able to change the lot size. You may need to complete or cancel the current inspection process before making changes.
Complete the Inspection: If the inspection is in progress, complete the inspection process. Once the inspection is finished, you can then create a new inspection lot with the desired lot size.
Cancel the Inspection Lot: If the inspection lot is not needed, you can cancel it. This will allow you to create a new inspection lot with the desired lot size. Be cautious with this approach, as it may have implications for your quality management processes.
Create a New Inspection Lot: If changing the lot size is essential, consider creating a new inspection lot with the correct lot size instead of modifying the existing one.
Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or consult with your SAP support team for specific procedures related to your organization's quality management processes.
