  • What causes this issue?

A retroactive accounting limit has been set in the <LS>Earliest master
    data change</> field of the employee's <LS>Payroll Status</> infotype
record (0003) because of plant data collection. This retroactive
accounting limit comes before the retroactive accounting limit that
would be set by archiving. Once archiving has been performed, <LS>time
evaluation</> would be unable to evaluate data from this period.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

    You can proceed as follows:
To perform retroactive accounting in this period, start the time
evaluation driver (RPTIME00) once again for the employee concerned. You
can then archive the employee's data.
Remove the personnel number concerned from the archiving group, and
archive this employee's data the next time archiving is performed.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message PH211 - Earliest PDC master data change & is before specified retro. acc. limit & ?

The SAP error message PH211, which states "Earliest PDC master data change & is before specified retro. acc. limit &," typically occurs in the context of Personnel Development (PD) or Human Capital Management (HCM) modules when there is an issue with the retroactive accounting limit set for personnel data changes.

    Cause:

The error is triggered when there is an attempt to make a change to master data (such as employee information) that is dated earlier than the retroactive accounting limit defined in the system. The retroactive accounting limit is a date that specifies how far back in time changes can be made to payroll or personnel data for accounting purposes. If the change date is earlier than this limit, the system will not allow the change and will generate the error message PH211.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Retroactive Accounting Limit:

      • Navigate to the configuration settings for retroactive accounting limits in your SAP system. This is usually found in the Payroll settings.
      • Verify the retroactive accounting limit date. If it is set too far in the past, consider adjusting it if business processes allow for it.
    2. Adjust the Change Date:

      • If the change you are trying to make is not critical, consider adjusting the date of the change to be on or after the retroactive accounting limit.
    3. Review Master Data Changes:

      • Ensure that the changes you are trying to make are necessary and valid. If they are not, you may need to reconsider the changes.
    4. Consult with Payroll or HR Team:

      • If you are unsure about the implications of changing the retroactive accounting limit or the master data, consult with your HR or Payroll team to understand the impact on payroll processing and compliance.
    5. Use Transaction Codes:

      • You can use transaction codes like PA30 (Maintain HR Master Data) to review and make changes to employee data, but ensure that the changes comply with the retroactive accounting limits.

    Related Information:

    • Retroactive Accounting in SAP: This is a feature that allows for adjustments to payroll calculations for past periods. It is crucial for ensuring that employees are paid correctly for any changes in their employment status or compensation.
    • Configuration Settings: The retroactive accounting limit can be configured in the SAP system under the payroll settings, and it may vary based on the country-specific payroll requirements.
    • Documentation: Always refer to SAP documentation or your organization's internal guidelines for handling personnel data changes and retroactive accounting.

By following these steps, you should be able to address the PH211 error and proceed with the necessary changes to master data in SAP.
