Message text: AGA8:Error code 16: Mole fraction of components is not in valid range
One of the mole fractions of the components for the gross method is not
within the valid range. The AGA c-code can not calculate a compression
factor.
The QCI (Quantity Conversion Interface) stops processing
Check that all fractions are within the specified ranges, according to
the AGA c-code documentation:
Nitrogen (N2): 0.0 < N2 < 0.50
Carbon dioxide (CO2) : 0.0 < CO2 < 0.30
Hydrogen (H2): 0.0 < H2 < 0.10
Carbon monoxide (CO) 0.0 < CO < 0.03
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

- AGA8:Error code 16: Mole fraction of components is not in valid range ?The SAP error message O3283 AGA8: Error code 16: "Mole fraction of components is not in valid range" typically occurs in the context of process engineering or chemical composition calculations within SAP systems, particularly when dealing with gas mixtures or chemical components.
Cause:
This error indicates that the mole fractions of the components in a mixture do not sum up to 1 or that one or more mole fractions are outside the valid range (0 to 1). In a valid mixture, the mole fraction of each component should be a non-negative number, and the total of all mole fractions should equal 1.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you should:
Check Component Values: Review the mole fractions of all components in the mixture. Ensure that:
- Each mole fraction is between 0 and 1.
- The sum of all mole fractions equals 1.
Adjust Values: If any mole fraction is incorrect, adjust the values accordingly. For example, if you have three components with mole fractions of 0.5, 0.4, and 0.2, you need to adjust them so that they sum to 1 (e.g., 0.5, 0.4, and 0.1).
Validate Input Data: Ensure that the input data for the components is accurate and reflects the actual composition of the mixture.
Recalculate if Necessary: If the mole fractions are derived from other calculations, ensure that those calculations are correct and that they are being updated properly in the system.
Consult Documentation: If you are unsure about the correct values or how to input them, refer to the SAP documentation or guidelines specific to the module you are using (e.g., SAP ERP, SAP S/4HANA).
Related Information:
Mole Fraction: The mole fraction of a component in a mixture is defined as the number of moles of that component divided by the total number of moles of all components in the mixture.
SAP Modules: This error may be encountered in modules related to chemical engineering, such as SAP Process Integration (PI) or SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO).
Error Handling: If the error persists after making adjustments, consider checking for any system updates or patches that may address known issues related to this error.
Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting the SAP community forums for additional assistance.
By following these steps, you should be able to identify and correct the issue causing the error message O3283 AGA8.
