  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You want to cancel a goods movement of an outbound or inbound delivery.
However, active follow-up documents have already been created in
    <DS:GLOS.47AD987B634839F4E10000000A421392>Advanced Returns Management</>
for at least one delivery item.

    System Response

    Cancelation is not possible.

    How to fix this error?

Check which active follow-up documents exist (such as warehouse
inspection, returns purchase order, goods movements, and so on). To
cancel the goods movement, you must first cancel all the active
follow-up documents that the system takes into account.
    Note:
In the replacement material process, the system only considers active
invoices when you cancel a goods issue for a returns purchase order. In
transaction MR8M (<LS>Cancel Invoice Document</>), you must therefore
cancel the invoices first before you can cancel the goods issue.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message MSR_INSP_MESSAGES302 - Cancelation of GM not possible; follow-up documents are active ?

The SAP error message "MSR_INSP_MESSAGES302: Cancellation of GM not possible; follow-up documents are active" typically occurs in the context of Goods Movement (GM) in SAP, particularly when trying to cancel a goods movement that has follow-up documents associated with it. This can happen in various scenarios, such as when there are subsequent documents like invoices, deliveries, or other transactions that depend on the original goods movement.

    Cause:

    1. Active Follow-Up Documents: The primary reason for this error is that there are follow-up documents (like purchase orders, sales orders, or invoices) that are linked to the goods movement you are trying to cancel. SAP prevents the cancellation to maintain data integrity and avoid inconsistencies.
    2. Document Flow: The document flow in SAP is designed to ensure that all related documents are consistent. If a goods movement is canceled, it could lead to discrepancies in the related documents.
    3. Status of the Document: The status of the original goods movement may also play a role. If it is already processed or has been referenced in other transactions, cancellation may not be allowed.

    Solution:

    1. Check Follow-Up Documents: Identify the follow-up documents that are linked to the goods movement. You can do this by checking the document flow in the relevant transaction (e.g., using transaction codes like MB03 for material documents).
    2. Reverse or Cancel Follow-Up Documents: If possible, reverse or cancel the follow-up documents first. This may involve canceling invoices, deliveries, or any other documents that reference the goods movement.
    3. Consult with Stakeholders: If the follow-up documents cannot be canceled (e.g., they are already processed), consult with relevant stakeholders (like finance or logistics teams) to determine the best course of action.
    4. Use Transaction Codes: Use transaction codes like MBST (for canceling material documents) or MIGO (for goods movements) to manage the documents appropriately.
    5. Check for Custom Logic: If your organization has custom logic or enhancements in place, ensure that they are not affecting the cancellation process.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as:
      • MIGO: Goods Movement
      • MBST: Cancel Material Document
      • MB03: Display Material Document
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or additional guidance related to this error message.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help files related to Goods Movement and document flow to understand the implications of cancellations.
    • Testing: If you are in a testing environment, try to replicate the issue to understand the conditions under which it occurs.

By following these steps, you should be able to address the error and proceed with the necessary actions in your SAP system.
