MD484
- No valid routing can be selected ?The SAP error message MD484 ("No valid routing can be selected") typically occurs in the context of production planning and control when the system is unable to find a valid routing for a material during the planning process. This can happen for various reasons, and understanding the cause is essential for resolving the issue.
Causes of MD484 Error
Missing Routing: The most common cause is that there is no routing defined for the material in question. This can happen if the routing has not been created or has been deleted.
Routing Not Active: The routing may exist but is not active for the relevant plant or production version.
Incorrect Production Version: The production version assigned to the material may not have a valid routing associated with it.
Plant-Specific Issues: The routing may be defined for a different plant than the one being used in the planning run.
Status of the Routing: The routing might be in a status that prevents it from being used (e.g., it could be marked as obsolete).
Material Master Data Issues: There may be inconsistencies or missing data in the material master that prevent the routing from being selected.
Solutions to MD484 Error
Check Routing: Verify that a routing exists for the material in the relevant plant. You can do this by navigating to the routing transaction (e.g., CA03) and checking if the routing is defined.
Activate Routing: If the routing exists but is not active, you may need to activate it. This can be done in the routing maintenance transaction.
Review Production Version: Ensure that the production version assigned to the material is correct and that it has a valid routing associated with it. You can check this in the material master (transaction MM03) under the "MRP 2" view.
Check Plant Assignment: Make sure that the routing is assigned to the correct plant. If necessary, create or modify the routing to include the correct plant.
Review Status: Check the status of the routing to ensure it is not marked as obsolete or inactive.
Material Master Data: Review the material master data for any inconsistencies or missing information that could affect routing selection.
Consult Documentation: If the issue persists, consult SAP documentation or reach out to your SAP support team for further assistance.
