Message text: Scheduling carried out, see log for error messages
When scheduling, an error occurred that was not the reason for the
termination, for example, an error in the quantity conversion at
operation level or the factory calendar is no longer valid. An error
message was recorded in the scheduling log.
Planned order was scheduled and capacity requirements were created,
however, the data is not consistent.
Display the scheduling log. This log is not saved in the system so you
have to schedule the planned order first so that the system can record
it.
Correct the errors listed in the log by changing either master data,
orders or Customizing as necessary.

MD486
- Scheduling carried out, see log for error messages ?The SAP error message MD486 ("Scheduling carried out, see log for error messages") typically indicates that there was an issue during the scheduling process of a production order, planned order, or other related objects in the SAP system. This message is a general notification that scheduling has been attempted, but there were errors that need to be reviewed in the log for further details.
Causes:
- Resource Availability: The scheduling may fail due to unavailability of resources (machines, labor, etc.) required for the production process.
- Capacity Constraints: If the capacity of work centers is exceeded, scheduling may not be able to allocate the necessary time slots.
- Material Availability: Lack of required materials or components can lead to scheduling issues.
- Configuration Issues: Incorrect settings in the production planning configuration can lead to scheduling errors.
- Date Constraints: If the dates for production or delivery are not feasible, scheduling may not be able to proceed.
- Master Data Issues: Problems with master data (like BOM, routing, or work center data) can also cause scheduling errors.
Solutions:
- Check the Log: The first step is to check the detailed log for specific error messages. You can do this by navigating to the relevant transaction (like MD04 for stock/requirements list) and reviewing the log for the specific order or planning object.
- Review Resource Availability: Ensure that all required resources are available and not overloaded. You can check the capacity planning in transaction CM01 or CM21.
- Check Material Availability: Use transaction MD04 to check if all materials required for the order are available. If not, you may need to procure or produce the missing materials.
- Adjust Scheduling Parameters: Review and adjust the scheduling parameters in the production order or planned order to ensure they align with the available resources and materials.
- Correct Master Data: Verify that all master data (BOM, routing, work centers) is correctly maintained and up to date.
- Consult with a Planner: If the issue persists, consult with a production planner or SAP PP consultant to analyze the situation further.
