  • Message text: Not possible to find suitable package sizes for parallel processing

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You have scheduled the template allocation in Profitability Analysis as
a background job and specified a server group. This leads to parallel
processing, which requires sufficiently large packet sizes for the
receiver profitability segments. The constant con_pack_size in the KWTP
function group specifies this size and has the value &V1&.
The maximum packet size of &V2& that is calculated here is far larger
    than the intended size.

    System Response

    Parallel processing cannot be started.

    How to fix this error?

Define more exact <DS:TRAN.KEAS>selection characteristics for the
template allocation to Profitability Analysis,</> so tat smaller
packets can be created, or make a modification to increase the
con_pack_size constant in the KWTP function group if you want to
    increase the intended packet size.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message KW114 - Not possible to find suitable package sizes for parallel processing ?

The SAP error message KW114, which states "Not possible to find suitable package sizes for parallel processing," typically occurs in the context of parallel processing in SAP, particularly when dealing with large data sets or batch processing. This error indicates that the system is unable to determine appropriate package sizes for the data being processed in parallel, which can lead to inefficiencies or failures in the processing job.

    Causes:

    1. Data Volume: The volume of data being processed may be too large, leading to difficulties in determining suitable package sizes.
    2. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings in the SAP system that are not optimized for parallel processing.
    3. Resource Limitations: Insufficient system resources (CPU, memory) can hinder the ability to process data in parallel.
    4. Incompatible Data Types: The data being processed may have incompatible types or structures that prevent effective parallelization.
    5. Batch Job Settings: The settings for the batch job may not be configured correctly, leading to issues in determining package sizes.

    Solutions:

    1. Adjust Data Volume: If possible, reduce the volume of data being processed in a single job. This can be done by splitting the data into smaller chunks.
    2. Review Configuration: Check the configuration settings for parallel processing in the relevant transaction or program. Ensure that the settings are optimized for the data being processed.
    3. Increase System Resources: If the system is under heavy load, consider increasing the available resources (CPU, memory) to improve processing capabilities.
    4. Check Data Compatibility: Ensure that the data types and structures being processed are compatible with parallel processing requirements.
    5. Modify Batch Job Settings: Review and modify the settings for the batch job to ensure they are appropriate for the data being processed. This may include adjusting the maximum number of parallel processes or changing the package size settings.
    6. Consult SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes or updates that may address this specific error or provide guidance on best practices for parallel processing.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as SM37 (for monitoring batch jobs) and ST22 (for analyzing dumps) to troubleshoot further.
    • SAP Documentation: Refer to SAP's official documentation for guidelines on parallel processing and batch job management.
    • Performance Monitoring: Use tools like ST03N (Workload Analysis) to monitor system performance and identify bottlenecks that may be contributing to the error.
    • SAP Community: Engage with the SAP Community or forums for additional insights and solutions from other users who may have encountered similar issues.

By addressing the underlying causes and implementing the suggested solutions, you should be able to resolve the KW114 error and improve the efficiency of your parallel processing tasks in SAP.
