  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

No suitable summarization level for template allocation to
    profitability analysis.

    System Response

The system tries to read the data (from profitability analysis) needed
for determining the cost driver from a corresponding summarization
level. For the current selection it was not possible to find a suitable
summarization level. The resulting selection from the CO-PA object
level may take much longer in certain circumstances than the selection
    from a summarization level.

    How to fix this error?

Create a suitable summarization level to speed up the read transaction
    of the CO-PA data.
If the template is not to be allocated without a suitable summarization
level, you can change this warning message to an error message.
See the implementation guide (IMG) for "General Controlling" under the
    activity <DS:SIMG.SIMG_CFMENUORK3OBA5>"Change Message Control "</>
(work area "KW", message number 115).

    Procedure for System Administrators

The SAP error message KW115 "No suitable summarization levels" typically occurs in the context of SAP Controlling (CO) when you are trying to execute a report or transaction that requires summarization levels for data aggregation, but the system cannot find any suitable levels to use. This can happen in various scenarios, such as when working with Profitability Analysis (CO-PA) or other CO-related reports.

    Causes:

    1. Missing Summarization Levels: The summarization levels required for the report or transaction are not defined in the system.
    2. Incorrect Configuration: The configuration for the relevant CO-PA characteristics or other controlling areas may not be set up correctly.
    3. Data Issues: There may be issues with the underlying data that prevent the system from finding suitable summarization levels.
    4. Authorization Issues: Sometimes, the user may not have the necessary authorizations to access the summarization levels.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Summarization Levels:

      • Go to the relevant configuration settings in SAP (e.g., transaction KEA5 for CO-PA) and verify that the summarization levels are defined correctly.
      • Ensure that the characteristics and value fields you are trying to report on are included in the summarization levels.
    2. Review Configuration:

      • Check the configuration for the controlling area, operating concern, or any other relevant settings to ensure they are set up correctly.
      • Make sure that the necessary characteristics are activated for summarization.
    3. Data Consistency:

      • Run data consistency checks to ensure that there are no issues with the underlying data that could be causing the error.
      • Use transaction KE4S to check the summarization levels and ensure that they are populated with data.
    4. User Authorizations:

      • Verify that the user has the necessary authorizations to access the summarization levels. This can be checked with the help of your SAP security team.
    5. Rebuild Summarization Levels:

      • If necessary, you may need to rebuild the summarization levels. This can be done using the appropriate transaction codes (e.g., KEA0 for CO-PA) to regenerate the summarization levels.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as KEA5 (for maintaining summarization levels), KE4S (for displaying summarization levels), and KEA0 (for generating summarization levels).
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message. SAP frequently updates its knowledge base with solutions for common problems.
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation for detailed information on configuring and managing summarization levels in CO-PA or other relevant modules.
