Message text: No prel/mixed cost est for Contr. level "Production Plant/Planning Plant"
You have assigned the plant-specific material view to the
<DS:GLOS.36F138F91B385A9EE10000009B38F984>Controlling level</>
Production Plant/Planning Plant. In this case, <ZH>no
<DS:GLOS.3526B76FAFAB52B9E10000009B38F974>preliminary cost estimate</>
</> can be created for a
<DS:GLOS.3526B6F2AFAB52B9E10000009B38F974>product cost collector</> for
the material. <DS:GLOS.3526B774AFAB52B9E10000009B38F974>Work in process
</> and <DS:GLOS.359A41323EC34A00E10000009B38F984>scrap variances</>
must therefore be valuated using the
<DS:GLOS.3526B6DFAFAB52B9E10000009B38F974>standard cost estimate</>.
If you want to confirm activity quantities in repetitive manufacturing,
the repetitive manufacturing profile must be assigned to a material
that allows confirmation with the data of the standard cost estimate.
It is not possible to confirm the activities on the basis of the
preliminary cost estimate for the product cost collector. If the
standard cost estimate is used, the confirmation of activities is based
on the routing in the standard cost estimate, which can differ from the
routing in the production version in question. There can be problems
with the valuation of work in progress and scrap variances in the
following situations:
If the task list type and task list group of the routing used in the
standard cost estimate differs from the routing of the production
version
If the reporting point structure is changed
Furthermore, <ZH>no <DS:GLOS.3526B72EAFAB52B9E10000009B38F974>mixed
costing</></> is possible when using the Controlling level Production
Plant/Planning Plant for the material.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
If you wish to avoid the following restrictions, discontinue processing
and select the Controlling level Production Version or BOM/Routing for
the material. Note that SAP recommends using the Controlling level
Production Version. Especially in repetitive manufacturing, you should
always use the Controlling level Production Version.
See the documentation <LS>Product Cost Controlling</> for additional
information on the Controlling level.

- No prel/mixed cost est for Contr. level "Production Plant/Planning Plant" ?The SAP error message KOSA120 indicates that there is no preliminary or mixed cost estimate available for the specified controlling level, which in this case is the combination of the production plant and planning plant. This error typically arises during the process of cost planning or when trying to execute a cost estimate for a product or production order.
Cause:
- Missing Cost Estimates: The most common cause is that there are no cost estimates created for the specified production plant or planning plant.
- Incorrect Configuration: The configuration settings for the controlling area, production plant, or planning plant may not be set up correctly.
- Data Inconsistencies: There may be inconsistencies in the master data related to the materials, such as missing or incorrect cost component structures.
- Costing Variant Issues: The costing variant used may not be properly configured or may not be applicable to the specified plants.
Solution:
- Create Cost Estimates: Ensure that preliminary or mixed cost estimates are created for the relevant production and planning plants. You can do this using transaction codes like CK11N (Create Cost Estimate with Quantity Structure) or CK40N (Create Cost Estimate).
- Check Configuration: Review the configuration settings in the controlling area and ensure that the production and planning plants are correctly defined. This includes checking the costing variants and their assignment.
- Review Master Data: Verify that the material master data is complete and accurate. Check the cost component structure and ensure that all necessary data is maintained.
- Use Correct Costing Variant: Make sure that the costing variant being used is appropriate for the plants involved. You can check this in the configuration settings under Controlling -> Product Cost Controlling -> Costing -> Costing Variants.
- Run Costing Run: If applicable, run a costing run to generate the necessary cost estimates for the materials in question.
