  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message K9357 - Layout and file description &1 do not match ?

The SAP error message K9357, which states "Layout and file description &1 do not match," typically occurs during the process of uploading or processing data files in SAP, particularly in the context of cost center accounting or internal orders. This error indicates that there is a mismatch between the layout of the data file being uploaded and the expected format defined in the system.

    Cause:

    1. Mismatch in File Structure: The structure of the data file (e.g., the number of fields, data types, or field order) does not match the layout defined in the SAP system.
    2. Incorrect Layout Selection: The layout specified in the upload process does not correspond to the actual layout of the data file.
    3. Data Format Issues: The data types or formats in the file (e.g., date formats, numeric formats) do not align with what SAP expects.
    4. Versioning Issues: If there are multiple versions of layouts, the wrong version may have been selected.

    Solution:

    1. Verify Layout Configuration: Check the layout configuration in SAP to ensure it matches the structure of the data file. This can be done in transaction codes like KSB1 or KSB2 for cost centers or internal orders.
    2. Check File Format: Open the data file in a text editor or spreadsheet application to confirm that the number of fields, their order, and data types match the expected layout.
    3. Select Correct Layout: Ensure that the correct layout is selected during the upload process. This can often be done in the upload interface where you specify the layout.
    4. Adjust Data File: If necessary, modify the data file to match the expected layout. This may involve reordering fields, changing data types, or ensuring that all required fields are present.
    5. Test with Sample Data: Before performing a full upload, test the process with a small sample of data to ensure that the layout and file description match correctly.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as KSB1, KSB2, or KSV1 for cost center accounting, as these may help in checking and configuring layouts.
    • SAP Documentation: Refer to SAP Help documentation for detailed information on file uploads and layout configurations.
    • Error Logs: Check the application logs or error logs in SAP for more detailed information about the error, which may provide additional context or specifics about the mismatch.
    • Consult with SAP Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support or your internal SAP team for assistance, especially if there are custom layouts or configurations involved.
