The SAP error message HRPAD_DELIMIT040 indicates that there is an issue with the validity of the pay scale type/area in relation to the infotype start date. This error typically occurs in the Human Resources (HR) module when trying to process employee data related to pay scales.

    Cause:

The error message is triggered when the pay scale type/area specified for an employee is not valid for the date of the infotype record being processed. Specifically, the pay scale type/area is only valid from a certain date, and the infotype start date is earlier than this validity date.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Pay Scale Validity:

      • Go to the transaction code SPRO (Customizing) and navigate to the relevant configuration for pay scale types and areas.
      • Verify the validity dates for the pay scale type/area in question. Ensure that the pay scale is set up correctly and that it is valid for the date range you are working with.
    2. Adjust Infotype Start Date:

      • If the pay scale type/area is valid only from a certain date, you may need to adjust the start date of the infotype record to a date that is on or after the validity date of the pay scale type/area.
    3. Update Employee Data:

      • If the employee's data needs to be updated, you can do this through the relevant infotype (e.g., infotype 0008 for Basic Pay) and ensure that the pay scale type/area is correctly assigned and valid for the specified date.
    4. Consult with HR/Payroll Team:

      • If you are unsure about the correct pay scale type/area or the appropriate dates, consult with your HR or payroll team for guidance on the correct configuration and data entry.

    Related Information:

    • Infotypes: Infotypes are data structures in SAP HR that store employee-related information. Each infotype has a validity period, and the data must be consistent with the configuration in the system.
    • Pay Scale Type/Area: These are used to define the salary structure for employees. They determine how salaries are calculated based on various factors such as job roles, experience, and location.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as PA30 (Maintain HR Master Data) and PA20 (Display HR Master Data) to view and edit employee records.
