  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message HRPAD_DELIMIT042 - Pay scale type/area &1 &2 is only valid until &3 (infotype end date &4) ?

The SAP error message HRPAD_DELIMIT042 indicates that there is an issue with the validity of the pay scale type/area for an employee in the Human Resources module. Specifically, it means that the pay scale type/area is only valid until a certain date, and the infotype (which contains employee data) has an end date that exceeds this validity period.

    Cause:

    1. Validity Period Mismatch: The pay scale type/area defined for the employee is valid only until a specific date, but the infotype (e.g., infotype 0008 for basic pay) has an end date that goes beyond this validity.
    2. Incorrect Data Entry: There may have been an error in entering the pay scale type/area or the infotype data.
    3. Changes in Pay Scale: The pay scale type/area may have been updated or changed in the system, making the previous entries invalid.

    Solution:

    1. Check Pay Scale Validity: Verify the validity dates of the pay scale type/area in the system. You can do this by navigating to the relevant configuration in the SAP system (usually in transaction code SPRO).
    2. Update Infotype Data: Adjust the end date of the infotype to ensure it does not exceed the validity period of the pay scale type/area. This can be done using transaction code PA30 (Maintain HR Master Data).
    3. Correct Data Entry: If there was an error in entering the pay scale type/area, correct it to match the valid entries in the system.
    4. Consult with HR/Payroll Team: If you are unsure about the correct pay scale type/area or the validity dates, consult with your HR or payroll team for guidance.

    Related Information:

    • Infotypes: Infotypes are data structures in SAP that store employee-related information. Common infotypes related to pay scale include:
      • Infotype 0008 (Basic Pay)
      • Infotype 0009 (Bank Details)
    • Transaction Codes:
      • PA30: Maintain HR Master Data
      • SPRO: Access to the SAP Reference IMG for configuration
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP Help documentation for detailed information on pay scale types and areas, as well as infotype management.

By addressing the validity of the pay scale type/area and ensuring that the infotype dates align correctly, you should be able to resolve the HRPAD_DELIMIT042 error.
