  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message GJ213 - Last Number in Number Range & for Company Code & Assigned. ?

The SAP error message GJ213 indicates that the last number in the number range for a specific company code has been reached. This typically occurs in the context of document numbering, where SAP uses number ranges to uniquely identify documents such as invoices, purchase orders, etc. When the last number in the defined range is used, the system cannot generate new document numbers, leading to this error.

    Cause:

    1. Exhausted Number Range: The number range defined for the specific document type and company code has been completely used up.
    2. Configuration Issues: There may be a misconfiguration in the number range settings, such as an incorrectly defined range or missing intervals.
    3. Incorrect Number Range Assignment: The document type may not be correctly assigned to the number range for the company code.

    Solution:

To resolve the GJ213 error, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Number Range Status:

      • Go to transaction code SNRO (Number Range Objects).
      • Enter the relevant number range object (e.g., for accounting documents, it might be FBN1).
      • Check the current status of the number range to see if it has been exhausted.
    2. Extend the Number Range:

      • If the number range is exhausted, you can extend it by:
        • Going to transaction code OBA7 (for number range maintenance).
        • Select the relevant number range and adjust the upper limit to allow for more numbers.
        • Save your changes.
    3. Create a New Number Range:

      • If you prefer not to extend the existing range, you can create a new number range:
        • In transaction code OBA7, create a new number range interval.
        • Assign the new number range to the relevant document type and company code.
    4. Check Assignments:

      • Ensure that the document type is correctly assigned to the number range in the configuration settings.
      • Use transaction code OBH2 to check the assignment of number ranges to document types.
    5. Testing:

      • After making changes, perform a test transaction to ensure that the error no longer occurs.
