SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: GA - Allocations

  • Message number: 790

  • Message text: No summarization level exists for cycle &

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The tracing factors for cycle &V1& cannot be read from a summarization
    level.
This message is displayed when executing a periodic allocation of
overhead costs (assessment, indirect activity allocation) if portions
are used as tracing factors in at least one segment. It is designed to
make you aware of potential improvement in performance which is not
    being used.
If variable portions are used as tracing factors, the distribution
factors are determined from the object level (table CE3xxxx/CE4xxxx,
xxxx=operating concern). If there is a large amount of data at object
level, selection can take a long time. The summarization levels can be
used to pre-summarize the transaction data, resulting in a drastic
reduction in runtimes for periodic allocations.

    System Response

The tracing factor is determined from the object level. This does not
alter the result of periodic allocation, but the runtime can be
    lengthy.

    How to fix this error?

For large data volumes, define a summarization level in the object
level in order to improve performance.
For more information, see the program documentation and the customizing
functions, which include a form for defining an appropriate
    summarization level for periodic allocation.

The SAP error message GA790 "No summarization level exists for cycle &" typically occurs in the context of the SAP Controlling (CO) module, particularly when dealing with internal orders, cost centers, or profit centers. This error indicates that the system cannot find a summarization level for the specified cycle in the planning or actual data.

    Cause:

      • Check if the planning version you are using is correct and that it has been activated.
      • Ensure that the relevant planning version is set up to include the summarization levels.
    3. Recreate Summarization Levels:

      • If the summarization levels are missing, you may need to recreate them. This can involve using transaction codes like KSV5 (for planning) or KSV1 (for actual data) to set up the necessary summarization levels.
    4. Check for Data Consistency:

      • Run consistency checks to ensure that there are no data inconsistencies that could be causing the issue. This can involve using transaction codes like KAH3 (for cost centers) or KAH2 (for internal orders).
