  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CRM_ORDER_CUST111 - Explosion ind. cannot be removed; srv. contract item categories assigned ?

The SAP error message CRM_ORDER_CUST111 indicates that the explosion indicator for a service contract item cannot be removed because there are item categories assigned to the service contract that require the explosion indicator to be active. This typically occurs in the context of service contracts in SAP CRM (Customer Relationship Management).

    Cause:

The error is caused by the following reasons:

    1. Item Category Assignment: The item categories assigned to the service contract are configured in such a way that they require the explosion indicator to be set. This is often the case for service-related items that need to maintain a relationship with other items or components.
    2. Configuration Settings: The configuration settings in the item category definition may enforce the explosion indicator, preventing it from being removed.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Item Categories:

      • Review the item categories assigned to the service contract. You can do this by navigating to the service contract in question and checking the item details.
      • Identify if the item categories are indeed set to require the explosion indicator.
    2. Modify Item Category Settings:

      • If you have the necessary authorization, you can modify the configuration of the item categories in the SAP Customizing Implementation Guide (IMG).
      • Navigate to Sales and Distribution > Basic Functions > Service Management > Service Contracts > Define Item Categories.
      • Check the settings for the relevant item categories and see if the explosion indicator can be made optional.
    3. Consult with Configuration Team:

      • If you are not authorized to make changes, consult with your SAP configuration team or a functional consultant. They can help assess whether the item category settings can be adjusted without impacting other processes.
    4. Review Documentation:

      • Check the SAP documentation or notes related to service contracts and item categories for any specific guidelines or recommendations.
    5. Alternative Workaround:

      • If changing the item category settings is not feasible, consider whether you can achieve your business requirements without removing the explosion indicator.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address this specific error or provide additional insights.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with transaction codes like CRMD_ORDER for managing service contracts and SPRO for accessing the IMG.
    • Testing: After making any changes, ensure to test the service contract functionality to confirm that the changes do not adversely affect other processes.

By following these steps, you should be able to address the CRM_ORDER_CUST111 error effectively.
