  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CRM_MKT_EXTERNAL020 - More Customizing entries from plan transferred than exist in DB table ?

The SAP error message CRM_MKT_EXTERNAL020 indicates that there is a mismatch between the number of customizing entries that have been transferred from the planning phase and the entries that exist in the database table. This typically occurs in the context of marketing or campaign management within SAP CRM.

    Cause:

    1. Data Inconsistency: The error often arises when there are more entries in the planning data than what is available in the database. This can happen due to:

      • Deletion of entries in the database that were still referenced in the planning data.
      • Incorrect or incomplete data transfer processes.
      • Issues during the synchronization of data between different systems or environments.
    2. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings that are not aligned, leading to discrepancies in the expected data.

    3. Transport Issues: If the customizing entries were transported from one system to another (e.g., from development to production), there may have been issues during the transport process that caused some entries to be lost or not properly updated.

    Solution:

    1. Check Database Entries: Verify the entries in the relevant database table to ensure that they match the expected entries from the planning data. You can do this by:

      • Running a query on the database table to see the current entries.
      • Comparing these entries with the planning data to identify any discrepancies.
    2. Re-Transfer Data: If there are discrepancies, you may need to re-transfer the data from the planning phase to ensure that all necessary entries are present in the database.

    3. Adjust Customizing Settings: Review the customizing settings in the SAP system to ensure that they are correctly configured and aligned with the planning data.

    4. Check Transport Logs: If the issue arose after a transport, check the transport logs for any errors or warnings that might indicate what went wrong during the transport process.

    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to this specific error message for any additional troubleshooting steps or patches that may be available.
