What causes this issue?

If you change sales-specific data of a reference business partner in
Service, the changes affect all consumer data records in Service. All
consumer data records are linked to the changed data record.
If these consumers are created in Sales as consumers (with the account
group that you use in Sales for consumers), they derive their data in
Sales from the reference customer.
Data changes regarding the reference business partner result in changed
reference customer data. Therefore, the data records of consumers in
both systems are identical.
If the consumers are created in SAP S/4HANA Sales as customers, they
have their own sales data. This data is not connected to any data
changes regarding the reference business partner.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
