  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CK726 - Qty structure type was changed between selection/explosion and costing ?

The SAP error message CK726 indicates that there is a discrepancy in the quantity structure type between the selection/explosion phase and the costing phase during the costing process. This typically occurs in the context of product costing, where the system expects a consistent quantity structure throughout the costing run.

    Cause:

    1. Changes in Master Data: The quantity structure type may have been changed in the material master or BOM (Bill of Materials) after the initial selection/explosion but before the costing run was completed.
    2. Configuration Changes: Changes in configuration settings related to costing or BOMs can lead to this error.
    3. Multiple Users: If multiple users are working on the same material or BOM, one user may change the quantity structure while another is processing costing.
    4. Versioning Issues: If different versions of BOMs or routing are being used, it can lead to inconsistencies.

    Solution:

    1. Check Master Data: Review the material master, BOM, and routing to ensure that the quantity structure type is consistent and has not been changed during the costing process.
    2. Re-run Costing: If changes were made, you may need to re-run the costing process after ensuring that all relevant data is consistent.
    3. Locking Mechanism: Implement a locking mechanism to prevent changes to the BOM or material master while costing is being processed.
    4. Review Change Logs: Check the change logs for the material and BOM to identify any changes made during the costing process.
    5. Consistency Check: Use transaction CK11N (Create Cost Estimate with Quantity Structure) to check for inconsistencies in the quantity structure before proceeding with costing.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as CK11N (Create Cost Estimate), CK40N (Change Cost Estimate), and CS01/CS02 (Create/Change BOM) to manage and review costing and BOM data.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any SAP Notes related to this error message for specific patches or updates that may address known issues.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation on product costing and BOM management for best practices and guidelines to avoid such errors in the future.
