Message number: 308
Message text: Planned order &1 does not contain any reservations for phantom assemblies
The system attempted to convert planning order &V1& for repetitive
manufacturing material &V2&.
Because of the settings in the repetitive manufacturing profile, no
reservations were created for phantom assemblies when the planning
order was created.
Conversion is terminated because the system cannot create a production
order if it does not have information (reservations) relating to
phantom assemblies.
In the material master for &V2& , maintain a repetitive production
profile that creates requirements for phantom assemblies and then
trigger the BOM for planning order &V1& again.

The SAP error message C2308 indicates that a planned order does not contain any reservations for phantom assemblies. This typically occurs in the context of production planning and material requirements planning (MRP) when dealing with phantom assemblies in the Bill of Materials (BOM).
Cause:
- Phantom Assembly Configuration: The phantom assembly may not be properly configured in the BOM. Phantom assemblies are used to simplify the BOM structure and are not intended to be produced as separate entities.
- Missing Reservations: The planned order for the phantom assembly does not have any associated reservations for the components that are part of the phantom assembly.
- MRP Settings: The MRP settings may not be correctly set up to handle phantom assemblies, leading to the absence of reservations.
- Order Type: The order type used for the planned order may not support the creation of reservations for phantom assemblies.
Solution:
- Check BOM Configuration: Verify that the BOM for the phantom assembly is correctly set up. Ensure that the components are defined properly and that the phantom assembly is marked as such in the BOM.
- Create Reservations: If necessary, manually create reservations for the components of the phantom assembly. This can be done through transaction codes like MB21 (Create Reservation) or by adjusting the planned order.
- Review MRP Settings: Check the MRP settings in the material master and ensure that the settings for handling phantom assemblies are correctly configured. This includes checking the MRP type and the planning strategy.
- Adjust Order Type: If the order type does not support reservations for phantom assemblies, consider changing the order type or adjusting the configuration to allow for reservations.
- Run MRP Again: After making the necessary adjustments, run the MRP process again to see if the planned order now generates the required reservations.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
