Smart SAP Assistant

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message BK233 - Document &2 is too big; The system is only reposting the first &1 row(s) ?

The SAP error message BK233 indicates that a document being processed is too large for the system to handle in a single operation. Specifically, the message states that the system is only able to repost a limited number of rows from the document, which can lead to incomplete processing or data loss.

    Cause:

    1. Document Size Limitations: SAP has certain limitations on the number of line items (rows) that can be processed in a single document. If the document exceeds this limit, the system will only process a portion of it.
    2. Configuration Settings: The system may have been configured with specific limits on the number of line items that can be processed in a single transaction.
    3. Performance Issues: Large documents can lead to performance degradation, prompting the system to restrict the number of rows processed to maintain efficiency.

    Solution:

    1. Split the Document: If possible, break the document into smaller parts that each contain fewer line items. This can be done manually or through a batch processing approach.
    2. Check Configuration Settings: Review the configuration settings in the SAP system to see if the limits on document size or line items can be adjusted. This may require assistance from an SAP Basis or configuration expert.
    3. Use Batch Processing: If the document is part of a batch process, consider using batch processing techniques that allow for handling larger volumes of data in smaller chunks.
    4. Consult SAP Notes: Check the SAP Support Portal for any relevant SAP Notes or updates that may address this issue. There may be patches or recommendations for handling large documents.
    5. Performance Tuning: If the issue is related to performance, consider optimizing the system's performance settings or hardware resources to better handle larger documents.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Documentation: Refer to the official SAP documentation for guidelines on document processing limits and best practices.
    • SAP Community: Engage with the SAP Community forums to see if other users have encountered similar issues and what solutions they have implemented.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes (e.g., FB01 for document posting) and their limitations regarding document size.

If the problem persists after trying the above solutions, it may be necessary to involve SAP support for further investigation and assistance.
