Message text: The maximum number of distribution rules was exceeded
Settlement profile &v1& is assigned to the settlement rule of the
sender object. This settlement profile allows a maximum of &v2&
distribution rules in the settlement rule. A source structure with &v3&
source assignments was entered in the settlement rule.
The system now tries to create a distribution rule for each source
assignment and each asset to be created. If the system created even one
asset, it would have to add &v3& distribution rules. However, of the
&v2& distribution rules that are the maximum allowed, &v4& are already
being used by existing distribution rules. Therefore, the system cannot
create any additional assets.
It is not possible to create new assets with the chosen function, since
the system cannot create any new distribution rules in the settlement
rule of the sender object.
Change profile &v1& so that it allows more distribution rules.

AY192
- The maximum number of distribution rules was exceeded ?The SAP error message AY192, which states "The maximum number of distribution rules was exceeded," typically occurs in the context of cost distribution or allocation processes within SAP. This error indicates that the number of distribution rules defined for a particular transaction or process has surpassed the system's predefined limit.
Cause:
- Exceeding Limits: Each SAP system has a maximum number of distribution rules that can be defined for a particular cost center, internal order, or other allocation objects. When you try to create or process a transaction that exceeds this limit, the error is triggered.
- Configuration Settings: The limit for distribution rules is often set in the configuration of the SAP system. If the business process requires more distribution rules than allowed, this error will occur.
- Complex Allocation Structures: In cases where complex allocation structures are used, such as multiple cost centers or internal orders, the number of distribution rules can quickly add up.
Solution:
- Review Distribution Rules: Check the existing distribution rules to see if any can be consolidated or removed. Simplifying the allocation structure may help reduce the number of rules.
- Increase the Limit: If necessary, consult with your SAP Basis or configuration team to see if the limit for distribution rules can be increased. This may involve adjusting settings in the configuration of the relevant module (e.g., Controlling (CO)).
- Use Alternative Methods: Consider using alternative methods for cost allocation that may require fewer distribution rules, such as using a different allocation method or simplifying the allocation process.
- Batch Processing: If applicable, consider processing transactions in smaller batches to avoid hitting the limit.
