SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message class: AJ - Billing program

  • Message number: 569

  • Message text: Cannot determine usage factor (operand &1/&2 equals unit of measure &3)

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You are using operand &V2& in the <DS:DE.CSNO>schema step during
billing</> &V4& to differentiate a usage factor. However, this operand
has the same unit of measurement &V3& as in an operand &V1& used in a
    previous schema step.
The usage factor is always determined with reference to a unit of
measurement. The operand is only used for a flexible definition of the
    actual usage in the schema.
To differentiate between various usage factors it is necessary to use
    different units of measurements.
The usage that is to be used when calculating a usage factor must not
be differentiated using the input operand of variant QUANTI24.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message AJ569 - Cannot determine usage factor (operand &1/&2 equals unit of measure &3) ?

The SAP error message AJ569, which states "Cannot determine usage factor (operand &1/&2 equals unit of measure &3)," typically occurs in the context of material management or production planning when the system is unable to calculate the usage factor for a specific operation or material due to issues with the unit of measure (UoM) configuration.

    Cause:

    1. Unit of Measure Configuration: The error often arises when there is a mismatch or incorrect configuration of units of measure in the material master or in the relevant transaction. This can happen if the system is trying to perform a calculation using incompatible units.

    2. Missing or Incorrect Usage Factor: The usage factor may not be defined for the specific combination of materials or operations being used, leading to the inability to determine how one unit relates to another.

    3. Data Inconsistencies: There may be inconsistencies in the data related to the material, such as missing entries in the material master or incorrect settings in the configuration.

    Solution:

    1. Check Material Master Data: Review the material master data for the materials involved in the transaction. Ensure that the units of measure are correctly defined and that the usage factors are set up properly.

    2. Review UoM Settings: Go to the transaction code OMN1 (for maintaining units of measure) and check if the units of measure used in the operation are correctly defined and linked to the materials.

    3. Define Usage Factors: If the usage factor is missing, you may need to define it in the relevant configuration settings. This can typically be done in the material master under the "Basic Data" or "Purchasing" views.

    4. Check Configuration Settings: Ensure that the configuration settings for the relevant module (e.g., MM, PP) are correctly set up to handle the units of measure and usage factors.

    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on the error message and related configuration settings.

    6. Testing: After making changes, perform tests to ensure that the error no longer occurs and that the calculations are being performed correctly.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as MM02 (Change Material), MM03 (Display Material), and OMN1 (Maintain Units of Measure).
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message.
    • User Forums: Consider visiting SAP community forums or user groups for additional insights and solutions from other users who may have encountered the same issue.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the root cause of the AJ569 error and implement a solution to resolve it.
