This typically occurs in the context of personnel administration when trying to process family-related data for an employee.
Cause:
The error is usually caused by one of the following reasons:
- Missing Infotype Records: There are no existing infotype records for the stepchild in the specified period. Infotypes are used in SAP to store specific types of data related to employees, and if the required infotype for the stepchild is not maintained, this error will occur.

- Data Entry Errors: There may be errors in the data entry for the family relationships, such as incorrect relationship types or dates.
Solution:

Check Infotype Records:
- Go to the relevant infotype (e.g., Infotype 0021 - Family/Dependents) and check if there are records for the stepchild in the specified period.
- If records are missing, you will need to create them. Use transaction code PA30 to maintain the infotype records.
Verify Configuration:
- Ensure that the configuration for family relationships is set up correctly in the system. This may involve checking the configuration in the SPRO transaction under Personnel Management settings.
- Make sure that the relationship type for stepchildren is defined and that the infotype is correctly linked to it.
Data Entry Review:
- Review the data entered for the employee's family members to ensure that the relationship type is correctly specified as "stepchild" and that the dates are accurate.
- Correct any discrepancies found during the review.
Consult Documentation:
- Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific details on how to maintain family infotypes and the requirements for stepchildren.
Testing:
- After making the necessary changes, test the process again to ensure that the error no longer occurs.
