Message text: Anonymity tax must not be changed retroactively
Regarding the anonymity tax in the wage tax, identifying the employee
during the course of the year will have no effect on the wage tax rate
(52%) already applied to previous payments. In principle, this field can
therefore not be changed retroactively.
Regarding national employee insurance contributions, it is possible to
alter the tax-free allowance and maximisation retroactively. However,
the Special Employee Groups code cannot. The calculations used according
to the Basic Method for Calculating Growth always ensures that, in the
current payroll period, it is automatically adjusted for the entire
year.

- Anonymity tax must not be changed retroactively ?The SAP error message 5N849, "Anonymity tax must not be changed retroactively," typically occurs in the context of tax reporting and compliance, particularly when dealing with anonymity tax or withholding tax scenarios. This error indicates that there is an attempt to change tax-related data that should not be altered for prior periods due to legal or compliance reasons.
Cause:
- Retroactive Changes: The error is triggered when a user attempts to change tax information (like tax codes, rates, or classifications) for a period that has already been closed or reported.
- Legal Compliance: Many jurisdictions have strict regulations regarding tax reporting and changes to tax data after a certain period. This error is a safeguard to prevent non-compliance.
- System Configuration: The system may be configured to prevent changes to certain tax-related fields once they have been posted.
Solution:
- Review Changes: Ensure that the changes you are trying to make are necessary and compliant with local tax regulations. If the changes are not critical, it may be best to leave the data as is.
- Consult with Tax Authorities: If you believe a change is necessary, consult with your tax advisor or local tax authority to understand the implications and whether a correction is permissible.
- Use Corrective Transactions: Instead of changing historical data, consider using corrective transactions or adjustments that are allowed by your local tax regulations.
- System Configuration: If you have the necessary permissions, review the system configuration settings related to tax changes. However, be cautious with any changes to system settings, as they may have broader implications.
- Documentation: Ensure that all changes and the reasons for them are well documented for audit purposes.
