  • What causes this issue?

The employee has given notice of intention to take either Statutory
Maternity Leave or Statutory Paternity Leave (birth) before they have
provided the required certificate. There are different certificates
necessary to establish eligibility for these two types of statutory
    absence:
    Statutory Maternity Leave
The required certification is a MAT B1 form, which the employee
receives from the doctor or midwife, stating the expected date of
    delivery of the baby.
<ZH>Note: </>If the MAT B1 form was signed more than 20 weeks before
the week in which the baby is due to be born, it cannot be accepted for
    Statutory Maternity Leave entitlement.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    Statutory Paternity Leave (birth)
Self-certification via Form SC3 is required for entitlement to this
form of paid absence. The employer cannot demand to see Form MATB1 in
    this instance.
