  • Key Concepts: A release period is a time frame in SAP's Demand Planning (DP) module that is used to define the planning horizon for a particular planning run. It is used to determine the start and end dates of the planning run, as well as the frequency of the planning run. The release period also determines which data is used in the planning run, such as historical data or forecast data.
How to use it: In order to use a release period in SAP's Demand Planning module, you must first create a release period in the system. This can be done by navigating to the Release Periods tab in the Demand Planning module and clicking on the Create button. From there, you will be able to enter the start and end dates of the release period, as well as any other relevant information. Once you have created the release period, you can then use it in your planning runs.
Tips & Tricks: When creating a release period, it is important to make sure that it is long enough to cover all of your planning needs. If your release period is too short, then some of your data may not be included in the planning run. Additionally, it is important to make sure that your release period does not overlap with any other existing release periods.
