What is release period in SAP PP-SFC - Production Orders?

  • Description: The number of workdays between the planned start date of the production order and the date for releasing the order. If the order release indicator is set, the production order is released by a background program that takes all dates into account.

  • Key Concepts: 
    A release period is a time frame in which a production order can be released. It is used to control the release of production orders in SAP PP-SFC Production Orders. The release period is defined by the user and can be set up for a specific period of time, such as a month or a year. 
    
    How to use it: 
    To set up a release period, go to the SAP PP-SFC Production Orders menu and select “Release Periods”. Enter the start and end dates for the period, and then click “Save”. Once the release period is set up, production orders can be released within that time frame. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    It is important to note that the release period only applies to production orders that are created after the release period has been set up. Any existing production orders will not be affected by the release period.
