Component Name: Production Planning and Control
Description: A character string that groups all related follow-up items in a BOM. The follow-up group is used to determine which discontinued items are replaced by which follow-up items. You can only enter a material item as a follow-up item if the item is kept in stock.
Key Concepts: Follow-up groups are used in Production Planning and Control (PP) to group together materials that are related to each other. This allows for easier tracking of the materials and their associated production orders. The follow-up group is assigned to a material master record and is used to identify the material as part of a group. How to use it: To assign a follow-up group to a material master record, go to the “Material Master” tab in PP. Select the material you want to assign the follow-up group to and click “Edit”. In the “Follow-up Group” field, enter the desired follow-up group number. Click “Save” to save your changes. Tips & Tricks: When assigning a follow-up group, make sure that all materials in the group have the same follow-up group number. This will ensure that all materials are tracked together and can be easily identified as part of the same group. Related Information: For more information on follow-up groups, please refer to SAP Help documentation on Production Planning and Control (PP).
