Message text: Device type for conversion is different from OTF device type
The SAPscript / Smart Form output format OTF is
<DS:DE.SX_DEVTYPE>GerStetyp</>-dependent. When creating the OTF document
in the print program, the device type needed for printing or sending is
already considered.
In this instance, the OTF document for device type &V1& was created, but
device type &V2& set in the SAPconnect Administration is being used for
the conversion in the SAPconnect send process.
The document may have been printed first and then sent from the spool,
or the device type in the SAPconnect Administration was changed after
the document was created.
SAPconnect attempts to perform the conversion and send it to the
connected component (such as fax or mail server). However, it can happen
that the content of the document is not correctly displayed for the
recipient, or that the connected component is unable to process the
document.
If required, change the device type in SAPconnect Administration or send
the document from the application again. Using the "retry" procedure on
the send request overview (transaction SOST) does not correct the
problem.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

XS133
- Device type for conversion is different from OTF device type ?The SAP error message XS133, which states "Device type for conversion is different from OTF device type," typically occurs when there is a mismatch between the device type specified for output and the device type that is being used for the conversion of the output format. This error is often encountered in the context of SAPscript or Smart Forms when printing documents.
Cause:
- Mismatch in Device Types: The error arises when the device type defined in the print program or form does not match the device type that is being used for the output. For example, if the output is being sent to a printer that uses a different device type than what is specified in the form or print program, this error will occur.
- Incorrect Configuration: The printer configuration in SAP may not be set up correctly, leading to inconsistencies in the device types.
- Output Format Issues: If the output format (like OTF - Output Text Format) is not compatible with the specified device type, this error can also occur.
Solution:
Check Device Type Configuration:
- Go to transaction
SPAD
(Spool Administration) in SAP.- Check the configuration of the printer and ensure that the device type is correctly set up.
- Verify that the device type used in the print program or form matches the device type configured for the printer.
Review Print Program/Form:
- If you are using a custom print program or Smart Form, check the settings to ensure that the correct device type is specified.
- In Smart Forms, you can check the output options and ensure that the device type matches the printer's configuration.
Adjust Output Device Settings:
- If necessary, adjust the output device settings in the print program or Smart Form to match the printer's device type.
- Ensure that the output device is correctly defined in the SAP system.
Test Printing:
- After making the necessary adjustments, perform a test print to verify that the issue has been resolved.
