SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: WT - Retail: Replenishment

  • Message text: Only enter number of recipients per process in parallel processing

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

In the technical control, you have maintained the number of recipients
per process (entry value > 0) without, however, selecting parallel
processing. As the value you entered is only taken into consideration
in parallel processing, the entry value 0 must be entered if you are
running the program without using parallel processing simultaneously.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

Enter 0 in the input field for the number of recipients per process.
Run the program with active parallel processing. This can, however,
only be used when running the program in the background.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WT709 - Only enter number of recipients per process in parallel processing ?

    SAP Error Message:
WT709 - Only enter number of recipients per process in parallel processing

    Cause:

This error occurs when you try to specify the number of recipients per process in a way that is not allowed or inconsistent with the parallel processing settings in the SAP workflow system.

In SAP Workflow, when you configure parallel processing for sending work items or notifications, you can specify how many recipients should be processed per parallel process. The error WT709 is triggered if the number of recipients per process is not entered correctly or if the system expects a certain input format or value range and the input does not comply.

    Explanation:

    • Parallel processing in SAP Workflow allows multiple recipients to be processed simultaneously.
    • The system requires you to specify the number of recipients per process to control workload distribution.
    • If you enter an invalid number (e.g., zero, negative, or a value that conflicts with the total number of recipients or system settings), the system raises WT709.
    • This ensures that the workflow runtime can correctly manage parallel tasks without errors or performance issues.

    Solution:

    1. Check the input value for the number of recipients per process:

      • Ensure it is a positive integer.
      • It should not exceed the total number of recipients.
      • It should be consistent with the parallel processing configuration.
    2. Adjust the parallel processing settings:

      • Go to the workflow definition or the relevant transaction where parallel processing is configured.
      • Verify the settings for the number of recipients per process.
      • Correct the value to a valid number.
    3. If you are using a custom program or user exit to set this value:

      • Review the code to ensure the value passed to the workflow runtime is valid.
      • Add validation logic if necessary.
    4. Consult SAP documentation or notes:

      • Sometimes, specific SAP Notes address issues related to workflow parallel processing.
      • Check SAP Support Portal for any relevant notes or patches.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Help Portal:
      • Search for "Parallel processing in SAP Workflow"
    • SAP Notes:
      • Look for notes related to WT709 or workflow parallel processing errors.
    • Configuration:
      • Parallel processing settings are often found in the workflow container or in the step configuration where the recipients are determined.

    Summary:

    • Cause: Invalid or inconsistent number of recipients per process entered for parallel processing in SAP Workflow.
    • Solution: Enter a valid positive integer that fits the total recipients and system configuration.
    • Check: Workflow definition, parallel processing settings, and any custom code affecting this parameter.

If you provide more context (e.g., transaction or scenario where this error occurs), I can help with more specific guidance.
