Message number: 853
Message text: Work item &: Rejection not allowed
Processing cannot be rejected for the work item in question.
The action was terminated and the work item remains unchanged.
If rejection of processing is to be possible for a work item, the step
must be flagged accordingly in the workflow definition. This is not the
case for the step to which the specified work item refers.
If this flag is changed, this no longer applies to work items which
have already been created, as the flag is only evaluated when a work
item is created.

- Work item &: Rejection not allowed ?The SAP error message WL853 ("Work item &: Rejection not allowed") typically occurs in the context of workflow management within SAP systems. This error indicates that a user is attempting to reject a work item (such as a task or approval request) that cannot be rejected due to the current status or configuration of the workflow.
Causes:
- Workflow Status: The work item may be in a status that does not allow rejection. For example, it might be completed, already approved, or in a state where rejection is not permitted.
- Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to reject the work item.
- Workflow Configuration: The workflow may be configured in such a way that rejection is not an allowed action for certain types of work items.
- Business Logic: There may be specific business rules defined in the workflow that prevent rejection under certain conditions.
Solutions:
- Check Workflow Status: Review the status of the work item. If it is already completed or in a state that does not allow rejection, you may need to take a different action (e.g., completing or approving the work item).
- Review Authorizations: Ensure that the user attempting to reject the work item has the necessary permissions. This may involve checking user roles and authorizations in the SAP system.
- Consult Workflow Configuration: If you have access to the workflow configuration, check the settings to see if rejection is allowed for the specific work item type. You may need to modify the workflow definition if rejection should be allowed.
- Contact Workflow Administrator: If you are unsure about the configuration or the reason for the restriction, it may be helpful to contact the workflow administrator or the SAP support team for assistance.
- Alternative Actions: If rejection is not possible, consider whether there are alternative actions that can be taken, such as forwarding the work item to another user or completing it in a different manner.
