other than zero. Then choose "Restart After Error".

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WFEA005 - Requested end: Recipient for missed deadline cannot be determined ?

Certainly! Here's a detailed explanation for the SAP error message:

    SAP Error Message:

WFEA005 - Requested end: Recipient for missed deadline cannot be determined

    Cause:

This error occurs in SAP Workflow when a deadline monitoring step is configured, but the system cannot determine the recipient (user or agent) responsible for handling the missed deadline event. In other words, when a deadline is missed, the workflow tries to trigger a follow-up action or notification, but it fails because the recipient for this action is not defined or cannot be resolved.

    Common reasons include:

    • The deadline monitoring step does not have a valid agent assignment.
    • The agent determination method for the deadline event is missing or incorrectly configured.
    • The workflow container does not have the necessary data to determine the recipient.
    • The organizational assignment or user determination rules are incomplete or incorrect.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you need to ensure that the system can correctly determine the recipient for the missed deadline event.

    Steps to fix:

    1. Check Deadline Monitoring Step Configuration:

      • Go to the workflow builder (transaction SWDD).
      • Locate the deadline monitoring step that triggers the missed deadline event.
      • Verify that the deadline monitoring step has a valid agent assignment or agent determination method.
    2. Verify Agent Assignment:

      • Ensure that the agent assignment for the deadline event is properly defined.
      • If the agent is determined via a container element, check that the container element is correctly filled at runtime.
      • If the agent is determined via a rule or method, verify that the rule/method returns a valid user or organizational unit.
    3. Check Organizational Assignment:

      • If the recipient is determined via organizational assignment, ensure that the organizational data is maintained correctly in the system.
      • Use transaction PPOME or PO13 to check organizational units and positions.
    4. Check Workflow Container Elements:

      • Make sure the container elements used for agent determination are correctly populated before the deadline monitoring step is reached.
    5. Test Agent Determination:

      • Use transaction SWI1 or SWI2_FREQ to analyze workflow logs and see if the agent determination is failing.
      • Use transaction SWI6 to test agent determination for the deadline event.
    6. Adjust or Implement Agent Determination Logic:

      • If no agent determination logic exists, implement a rule or method to determine the recipient.
      • If the existing logic is incorrect, correct it.
