WD715 Step container found without related step &. Delete?

    Cause

This error occurs when a step container exists in the Web Dynpro component's window or view, but the corresponding step (navigation step) is missing or has been deleted. In Web Dynpro, a step container is linked to a navigation step that controls the flow between views. If the step container references a step that no longer exists, the system raises this inconsistency error.

    In other words:

    • The step container is trying to display or manage a step that is not defined in the window's step list.
    • This can happen if a step was deleted or renamed, but the step container was not updated accordingly.
    • It can also occur if the component or window metadata is out of sync.

    Solution

    1. Check the Window's Steps:

      • Open the Web Dynpro component in the SAP Web Dynpro Explorer.
      • Navigate to the window where the error occurs.
      • Verify the list of steps defined in the window.
      • Confirm if the step referenced by the step container exists.
    2. Update or Delete the Step Container:

      • If the step container references a non-existing step, either:
        • Reassign the step container to a valid step.
        • Or delete the step container if it is no longer needed.
    3. Synchronize Metadata:

      • Sometimes, the metadata might be inconsistent.
      • Try to rebuild or regenerate the component.
      • Clean and activate the component and its related objects.
    4. Check for Naming Consistency:

      • Ensure that the step container's properties correctly reference the step name.
      • If the step was renamed, update the step container accordingly.
    5. Delete the Step Container if Unnecessary:

      • If the step container is obsolete, delete it to remove the inconsistency.
