  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message W5114 - You have not yet released any purchase orders ?

    SAP Error Message:
W5114 - You have not yet released any purchase orders

    Cause:

This warning message appears when a user tries to perform an action that requires at least one purchase order (PO) to be released (approved), but no purchase orders have been released yet. Typically, this happens in scenarios such as:

    • Running reports or transactions that filter or display only released purchase orders.
    • Attempting to create or process documents that depend on released POs.
    • Using workflows or approval processes where released POs are mandatory.

In other words, the system expects at least one PO to be in the "released" status, but none have been released so far.

    Solution:

    1. Release Purchase Orders:

      • Identify the purchase orders that are still in the "blocked" or "created" status.
      • Follow your organization's approval process to release these POs.
      • This can be done via transaction codes like ME28 (Release Purchase Orders) or through the relevant workflow.
    2. Check User Authorization:

      • Ensure that the user has the necessary authorization to release purchase orders.
      • If not authorized, request the appropriate permissions or have an authorized user release the POs.
    3. Verify Purchase Order Status:

      • Use transaction ME23N to check the status of purchase orders.
      • Confirm that the POs are indeed not released.
    4. Adjust Filters or Parameters:

      • If the action or report can be run without requiring released POs, adjust the selection criteria accordingly.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:

      • ME21N - Create Purchase Order
      • ME22N - Change Purchase Order
      • ME23N - Display Purchase Order
      • ME28 - Release Purchase Order
      • ME29N - Release Purchase Order (newer transaction)
    • Purchase Order Release Strategy:

      • SAP uses release strategies to control the approval process of POs.
      • The release strategy defines the conditions and levels of approval required.
      • If no release strategy is assigned or configured incorrectly, POs may not be released.
    • Authorization Objects:

      • Check authorization object M_EINK_FRG (Release Purchase Order) for user permissions.
    • SAP Notes and Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP Help Portal for detailed information on Purchase Order release strategies.
      • Check for any relevant SAP Notes if the issue persists despite correct release.

    Summary:

The warning W5114 indicates that no purchase orders have been released yet, which is required for the current operation. The solution is to release the necessary purchase orders following your organization's approval process and ensure the user has the required authorizations.
