VL270
- Product selection sub-item copied without main item ?The SAP error message VL270 ("Product selection sub-item copied without main item") typically occurs during the processing of delivery documents in the SAP system, particularly when dealing with item categories that have a hierarchical structure (like main items and sub-items). This error indicates that a sub-item is being processed without a corresponding main item, which is required for the system to correctly handle the item relationships.
Cause:
- Missing Main Item: The main item that should be associated with the sub-item is not present in the delivery document.
- Incorrect Item Category Configuration: The item categories may not be configured correctly in the system, leading to issues with how items are related.
- Data Inconsistencies: There may be inconsistencies in the data being processed, such as missing or incorrect references between main and sub-items.
- Manual Changes: If manual changes were made to the delivery document, it could lead to a situation where the sub-item is left without its main item.
Solution:
- Check Item Relationships: Review the delivery document to ensure that all sub-items have their corresponding main items. If a main item is missing, it needs to be added to the document.
- Review Item Category Configuration: Ensure that the item categories are correctly configured in the system. This includes checking the settings for main and sub-items in the item category determination.
- Data Validation: Validate the data in the delivery document to ensure that all necessary fields are filled out correctly and that there are no inconsistencies.
- Recreate the Delivery Document: If the document is corrupted or has too many issues, it may be easier to recreate the delivery document from scratch.
- Consult SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes or updates that may address this specific error. SAP frequently releases updates that can resolve known issues.
