  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

In a scheduling agreement with delivery schedules, for which the
just-in-time (JIT) and forecast delivery schedules are relevant for
materials planning according to the validity of the JIT horizon, the
delivery schedule quantity in the JIT delivery schedule horizon does
not correspond to that in the JIT delivery schedule.
However, the delivery schedule has a quantity in transit that has been
included in the schedule line open quantities but is not included in
    the requirements.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    For example:
Forecast dlv. sched Jan 1st JIT dlv. sched Feb 1st (valid to Feb 28)
Cum. delivered qty 100 Cum. delivered qty 100
Cum. received qty 10 Cum. received qty 50
In transit 90 In transit 50
    Schedule lines Schedule lines Requirements
Date Qty Open qty Date Qty Open qty
    ----------------------- ----------------------- ------
    Feb 1 20 0 0
    Feb 8 20 0 0
    Feb 15 20 10 10
    Feb 22 20 20 20
    Mar 1 100 10 100
    Apr 1 100 100 100
The problem arises because on March 1, a requirement for 100 exists
although the open quantity is only 10 when you look at the forecast
    delivery schedule only.
However, if both delivery schedules are valid and relevant, the
forecast delivery schedule should also contain a corresponding quantity
for the February schedule lines in the JIT delivery schedule.
At the moment, it is not clear to the system how much the customer
    requires for March 1.

    System Response

The system thinks that there are differences between the open
quantities and the material planning requirements.

    How to fix this error?

You can do one of the following:
Either change the material requirement processing for delivery
    schedules in the scheduling agreement.
If you can't change the materials requirements processing, ask your
customer to send you a new forecast delivery schedule that matches the
    JIT delivery schedule.
If the customer can't send you a matching delivery schedule, you will
have to adjust the delivery schedule, or enter a new forecast delivery
    manually.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message V4232 - Forecast delivery schedule is incompatible with the JIT delivery schedule ?

The SAP error message V4232 indicates that there is an incompatibility between the forecast delivery schedule and the Just-In-Time (JIT) delivery schedule. This error typically arises in the context of supply chain management and production planning, particularly when dealing with JIT processes.

    Cause:

The error can occur due to several reasons, including:

    1. Mismatch in Delivery Dates: The forecast delivery schedule may have delivery dates that do not align with the JIT delivery schedule. JIT requires precise timing for deliveries, and any discrepancies can trigger this error.

    2. Quantity Differences: The quantities specified in the forecast delivery schedule may not match the quantities required in the JIT delivery schedule.

    3. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings in the system that are not aligned with the requirements for JIT processing.

    4. Data Entry Errors: Incorrect data entry in either the forecast or JIT delivery schedules can lead to incompatibility.

    Solution:

To resolve the V4232 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Delivery Dates: Review the delivery dates in both the forecast and JIT delivery schedules. Ensure that they are aligned and that the JIT schedule can accommodate the forecasted deliveries.

    2. Verify Quantities: Ensure that the quantities in the forecast delivery schedule match those required in the JIT delivery schedule. Adjust the quantities as necessary.

    3. Review Configuration: Check the configuration settings related to JIT and forecast delivery schedules in your SAP system. Ensure that they are set up correctly to allow for compatibility.

    4. Correct Data Entry: If there are any data entry errors, correct them in the relevant schedules.

    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on handling JIT and forecast delivery schedules.

    6. Engage with SAP Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support for further assistance, especially if it involves complex configuration or system issues.

    Related Information:

    • JIT Delivery: Just-In-Time delivery is a strategy that aligns raw-material orders from suppliers directly with production schedules. It minimizes inventory costs and increases efficiency.
    • Forecast Delivery Schedule: This is a planned schedule that outlines expected delivery quantities and dates based on demand forecasts.
    • SAP Modules: This error is typically encountered in modules related to SAP Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Production Planning (PP).

By addressing the underlying causes and ensuring that both schedules are compatible, you should be able to resolve the V4232 error effectively.
