USMD2144
- Data not deleted; assign a change request first ?The SAP error message USMD2144, which states "Data not deleted; assign a change request first," typically occurs in the context of SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) when you attempt to delete or change master data without having an active change request assigned to the operation.
Cause:
The error arises because SAP MDG requires that any changes to master data, including deletions, be performed within the framework of a change request. This is a part of the governance process to ensure that all changes are tracked, approved, and documented properly. If you try to delete data without an associated change request, the system will prevent the action and display this error message.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you need to follow these steps:
Create a Change Request:
- Navigate to the relevant MDG application (e.g., for Material, Business Partner, etc.).
- Create a new change request for the master data you want to modify or delete.
Assign the Change Request:
- Once the change request is created, ensure that it is active and assigned to the relevant master data record you wish to delete.
- You can usually do this by selecting the master data record and linking it to the change request.
Perform the Deletion:
- After the change request is properly set up and assigned, attempt to delete the master data again.
- The system should now allow the deletion since it is being performed within the context of an active change request.
Related Information:
If you continue to experience issues after following these steps, it may be helpful to consult with your SAP support team or refer to the SAP documentation specific to your version of MDG for further troubleshooting.
