    A hierarchy for a characteristic should be used in the lead column of
    the layout. This hierarchy is not defined in the database.

    The hierarchy display was deactivated for the characteristic. No
    hierarchy is displayed, but the values in the data area are displayed
    aggregated over all hierarchy levels.

    How to fix this error?

    If you want to use a hierarchy for display in the lead column, then
    make sure that only one characteristic (and no key figures) is in the
    lead column, and enter the key of an existing hierarchy.
