Message type: E = Error
Message class: UPE - Unicode Printing Enhancement tools
Message number: 016
Message text: URDT & already exists - Choose a different name
You have entered a name for a new URDT (Unicode Reference Device Type)
which already exists on the database.
The system sends a message and does not accept the name.
Choose a different name for the URDT.
Please note that for modifications which change the set of Unicode
character mappings registered in a URDT (for example, adding one or
several new Unicode characters, or re-mapping exising supported Unicode
characters to another TrueType font), the system prompts you to store
the modified URDT under a new name. It will not allow you to make the
changes to the already existing URDT.
The reason for this is that there is no technical possibility to reverse
such a modification of a URDT (i.e. there is no "UNDO" functionality).
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

UPE016
- URDT & already exists - Choose a different name ?The SAP error message UPE016 indicates that there is an attempt to create or modify an object (such as a user-defined table, data element, or other repository objects) with a name that already exists in the system. This error typically occurs in the context of ABAP development or when working with the Data Dictionary.
Cause:
- Duplicate Name: The most common cause of this error is that the name you are trying to use for a new object is already taken by another object in the SAP system.
- Namespace Conflicts: If you are working in a specific namespace, ensure that the name you are using does not conflict with existing objects in that namespace.
- Transport Requests: If you are working with transport requests, there may be objects that have been transported to the system that conflict with your new object.
Solution:
- Choose a Different Name: The simplest solution is to select a different name for the object you are trying to create. Ensure that the new name adheres to the naming conventions and is unique within the relevant namespace.
- Check Existing Objects: Use transaction codes like SE11 (Data Dictionary), SE80 (Object Navigator), or SE84 (Repository Information System) to search for existing objects with the same name. This will help you identify what is already in use.
- Namespace Management: If you are working in a custom namespace, ensure that you are following the naming conventions for that namespace to avoid conflicts.
- Transport Management: If the object you are trying to create is part of a transport request, check if the object has already been included in a transport and whether it has been imported into the target system.
