What causes this issue?

You have UPE-enabled a device type in order to be able to print more
international characters (Unicode characters) with this device type on
the connected printers.

System Response

The system sends an information message to inform you that ABAP list
printing with this device type is configured in such a way that it
cannot support UPE Unicode printing for some or all ABAP list formats
(X_65_80, X_65_132 etc.)
Some or all of the ABAP lists printed with this device type will not
benefit from the Unicode Printing Enhancement solution.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

Technical background:
PCL5 or PostScript device types can print ABAP lists via two methods: an
"old" method which is completely table-driven and does not involve a
printer driver and a "new" method where a dedicated printer driver for
ABAP lists is used. Unicode Printing Enhancement functionality can only
be supported via the second method. Which method is used depends
typically on the age of the device type. Older device types like HPLJ4,
HPLJ5 and POSTSCPT do not use the ABAP list printer driver, and thus
cannot benefit from the UPE solution when printing ABAP lists. Newer
device types like HPLJ8000 and POST2 use the ABAP list printer driver.
