*** partially similar to UGMD500 ***
*** only the variables changed ***
While reading hierarchy &V1& from BW System &V2&, the system discovered
that one node has a value that differs from the value at the
higher-level node in the hierarchy.
Whenever a hierarchy receives a node that is compounded with the
higher-level (independent) characteristic, then all nodes and end nodes
subordinate to that node must be compounded only with the same value of
the independent characteristic.
The hierarchy will not be transferred from the BW system.
Change the definition of the hierarchy in the BW System and restart the
transfer.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

UGMD501
- Higher-level characteristic is not homogeneous ?The SAP error message UGMD501, which states "Higher-level characteristic is not homogeneous," typically occurs in the context of SAP's variant configuration or when dealing with characteristics in a classification system. This error indicates that there is an inconsistency in the characteristics assigned to a higher-level object (like a configurable material) and its dependent characteristics.
Cause:
- Inconsistent Characteristics: The higher-level characteristic (e.g., a configurable material) has been assigned characteristics that are not compatible or do not have a consistent value across all instances.
- Missing Values: Some characteristics may not have values assigned, leading to a lack of homogeneity.
- Incorrect Configuration: The configuration of the characteristics may not align with the expected values or types defined in the system.
- Hierarchy Issues: If the characteristics are part of a hierarchy, there may be a mismatch in the expected values at different levels.
Solution:
- Check Characteristic Values: Review the values assigned to the higher-level characteristic and ensure that all dependent characteristics have consistent and valid values.
- Review Configuration Settings: Go through the configuration settings for the material or object in question to ensure that all characteristics are correctly defined and compatible.
- Adjust Characteristics: If necessary, modify the characteristics to ensure they are homogeneous. This may involve changing values or reassigning characteristics.
- Use Transaction Codes: Utilize transaction codes like
CU50
(Configuration Profile) orCU01
(Create Characteristics) to review and adjust the configuration settings.- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on handling variant configuration and characteristics.
