SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: TSGEN - Messages For Transaction SGEN

  • Message number: 004

  • Message text: Unable to open file & (see long text for this message)

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The system could not open the REPLIST file, which contains the names of
all ABAP programs generated before the upgrade. Either the file does not
exist, or you do not have read authorization.

    System Response

The generation set of the tasks <ZK>Regenerate After an SAP System
Upgrade</> is partly based on the set of objects that were already
generated before the upgrade (REPLIST file, see also online
    documentation for transaction <DS:DT.TX_SGEN_INFO1_PARA>SGEN</>). The
REPLIST file is generated in the upgrade phase LIST_LOAD. The object
list of this file is required for the system to continue with the task
<ZK>Regenerate After an SAP System Upgrade</>.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

Check whether all paths and file names are correct. Also check whether
you can access the REPLIST file on the application server on which you
    are executing transaction SGEN.
If you cannot access the REPLIST file, go to the initial screen of
transaction SGEN and select <ZK>Generate All Objects of Selected
Software Component</> instead of <ZK>Regenerate After an SAP System
Upgrade</>. Select the software components and application server once
again. For more information on the individual generation tasks, see the
    <DS:DT.TX_SGEN_INFO1_PARA>Online Documentation</> of transaction SGEN.
